Researchers at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada have created five fruit fly clones.
Fruit flies often used as a model to study reproductive science may offer new insights into why cloning is
often flawed. Because fruit flies have a short gestation period they can be cloned, grown and tested in a
relatively short period of time.

Scientists at Genetic Savings and Clone, in California have successfully cloned the first commecially cloned
pet kitten. The clone was created for a Texas woman known only as Julie to replace her previous cat who had
died last year. The new kitten, named Little Nicky, is nine weekds old and appears to be in good shape.
